Risk information

Endometrial ablation does not eliminate the potential for endometrial hyperplasia or adenocarcinoma of the endometrium, and may mask these conditions.

Patients who undergo endometrial ablation procedures and who have also undergone tubal ligation are at greater risk of developing post-ablation tubal sterilization syndrome.

If the cryozone extends beyond the serosal surface of the uterus, thermal injury to adjacent organs may occur. As with any office-based procedure, physicians should be prepared for an emergency.
